The Ultimate Ke Ga Travel Guide 2026

If you're looking for a peaceful beach getaway near Ho Chi Minh City, without the crowds of Vung Tau or Mui Ne, then you will find out that Ke Ga is one of southern Vietnam's most underrated coastal destinations.

Just a 3-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City, Ke Ga has preserved much of its natural charm, with crystal-clear waters, unique red granite rock formations, a traditional fishing village, and the slow-paced lifestyle of a local seaside community.

This guide covers everything you need to plan your trip to Ke Ga - from the best time to visit, top attractions, where to eat and stay, to suggested itineraries for couples, families, and groups of friends.

Where is Ke Ga?

Ke Ga is located in Tan Thanh Commune, Lam Dong Province (formerly part of Binh Thuan Province), approximately 180 km from Ho Chi Minh City.

Unlike Mui Ne, which lies north of Phan Thiet, Ke Ga is located to the south, allowing travelers from Ho Chi Minh City to reach it without passing through downtown Phan Thiet.

Thanks to the Ho Chi Minh City – Dau Giay – Phan Thiet Expressway, the journey now takes only around three hours.

Best time to visit Ke Ga

Located along Vietnam's south-central coastline, Ke Ga experiences relatively stable weather throughout the year with little impact from typhoons. Every season offers a different experience.

April – September

This is considered the best season to visit Ke Ga. The sea is calm and crystal clear, sunny days are common, and occasional afternoon showers help cool the air. It's the perfect time for swimming, relaxing by the beach, and enjoying a summer holiday with family.

One of the area's most unique natural phenomena occurs between May and August, especially during the new moon and full moon. At low tide, a natural sand-and-rock pathway emerges, allowing visitors to walk to Ke Ga Lighthouse instead of taking a boat.

A sandbar emerges at low tide, allowing visitors to easily walk across to Ke Ga Lighthouse.

October – March

This is the wind season in Ke Ga. Strong sea breezes create pleasant temperatures, making it comfortable to spend the entire day outdoors. The area around Ke Ga Lighthouse becomes especially popular for watersports such as: Surfing, Kitesurfing, Wing Foiling.
